PikeView and Princeton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Panthers will take on the Tigers in a tournament on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (PikeView has nine straight victories, Princeton has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
PikeView saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over Graham.
Eli Naylor was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Eli Hilling was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Wyatt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Princeton didn't have quite enough to beat Graham on Tuesday and fell 9-8.
Landon Crane was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Cline, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
PikeView pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Princeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. PikeView has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Princeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
PikeView took their victory against Princeton in their previous matchup on Thursday by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
