Softball Recap: Opp Comes Up Short

Opp dropped down to 4-4 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Liberty County Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

As for Liberty County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Liberty County's part, Cha'Miya Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Williams has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Abella Faircloth was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Kincaid was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Opp and Liberty County will both be playing Belleview the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will head out to face the Rattlers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
