Basketball Recap: Sabrina Daniel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Phoenix Preparatory Academy over Maryvale Prep

After flying high against Mayer last Thursday, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy came back down to earth. The North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators fell 29-20 to the Maryvale Prep Matador on Friday. The Gladiators haven't had much luck with the Matador recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sabrina Daniel, who posted five points. Daniel is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadley Cain, who scored eight points and five boards.

Even though they lost, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Maryvale Prep, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy will welcome Desert Heights Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy is facing Desert Heights Prep at the right time seeing as Desert Heights Prep is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Maryvale Prep, they will be playing at home against Bagdad at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maryvale Prep's defense has only allowed 20.7 points per game this season, so Bagdad's offense will have their work cut out for them.
