After a string of four wins, the Nebo Crossing Academy Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Union Grove Christian. While losing is never fun, Nebo Crossing Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Union Grove Christian is ranked 157th).
It was another big night for Colin Wykes, who scored 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Union Grove Christian. Wykes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 16 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Cooper, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Nebo Crossing Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Union Grove Christian, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home.
Nebo Crossing Academy will take on Veritas Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Grove Christian, Union Grove Christian and Tournament Opponent will face off at 1:20 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
