The Ball Tornadoes had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 52.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They really took it to Waltrip for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-12 win at home. The result was nothing new for Ball, who have now won seven matchups by 34 points or more so far this season.
Ball's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justis Thomas, who rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Williams, who gained 117 total yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the defeat, Waltrip saw an underclassman step up: Kevion West rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Ball's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 53 points. As for Waltrip, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Ball will head out on the road to face off against Northside at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Northside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Waltrip, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sharpstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sharpstown comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
