The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers were the 68-45 winner over the Polo Panthers when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Wellington-Napoleon took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Polo on Thursday.
When it comes to explaining why Wellington-Napoleon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trotter Hughes. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Haden Terrill, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Wellington-Napoleon's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-12. As for Polo, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Wellington-Napoleon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Orrick at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Wellington-Napoleon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Polo, they will head out on the road to face off against Lawson at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
