Last Friday, Lennox Academy lost to Vistamar at home by a decisive 57-41 margin. While losing is never fun, Lennox Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1219th, while Vistamar is ranked 566th).
Meanwhile, even though Horace Mann UCLA Community scored an imposing 71 points on Saturday, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy made off with a 72-71 win over Horace Mann UCLA Community. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hawthorne Math & Science Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Roland Essah, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Essah has scored all season. Brian Essah was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Lennox Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
