Douglas gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Southeast Cyclones 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bearcats sure are getting used to it with their 16th in a row dating back to last season.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Douglas got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 22-25, 15-7.
Leah Ewing paced Douglas' offense, picking up 15 kills. Ewing got some help from Avynn Yost and her 28 assists. Oakley Moore and Ciara Yates kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
