Basketball Recap: Pine View Falls Despite Big Games from Charity Falaniko and Reese Gustin

Pine View suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 58-35 to the Snow Canyon Warriors. The Panthers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Reese Gustin and Charity Falaniko certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Gustin posted eight points, while Falaniko earned six points and five boards. That's the most points Falaniko has posted since back in December of 2024. Aniva Seve was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Snow Canyon had a senior duo take command as Olivia Hamlin went 10 for 22 en route to 22 points in addition to six assists and six steals and Joey Jensen went 7 of 13 on her way to 16 points and five assists. Hamlin is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 46 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaylee Andrews, who scored four points along with nine boards and four blocks.

Pine View's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Snow Canyon, they pushed their record up to 20-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine View has already played their next match (against Dixie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Snow Canyon will square off against Cedar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Snow Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.6 points per game this season.
