Boone Central dropped down to 5-3 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a blow against the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders, falling 37-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Cardinals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Even if they lost, Boone Central's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Collin Spangler and Lenyn Ickler, who racked up four sacks between them. Ickler is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played.

As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.9 points on average over those games.

A big part of Grand Island Central Catholic's win came down to the chemistry between Grayson Sack and his top target Jack Alberts. Sack rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries while Alberts gained 100 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Sack racked up 224 passing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.
