Monsignor Pace has gone a perfect 10-0 against St. Brendan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Monsignor Pace is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Palmer Trinity with a sharp 16-6 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Kyle Fernandes spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, Elias Magnone and Yuniel Paredes did most of the damage at the plate: Magnone went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Paredes went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Magnone a new career-high. Aiden Delgado was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Monsignor Pace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, St. Brendan didn't have quite enough to beat Southridge on Friday and fell 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Sabres have lost by exactly two runs.
St. Brendan also got a good showing from Luciano Nava, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Jan Perez Fernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-6. Another player making a difference was Kevin Leon, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
Monsignor Pace pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Brendan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Monsignor Pace skirted past St. Brendan 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Will Monsignor Pace repeat their success, or does St. Brendan has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
