Basketball Recap: Brackin Lail's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manila over Tabiona

Manila lost against Tabiona last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Manila Mustangs took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tabiona Tigers. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 16-10 in the first quarter.

Manila lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brackin Lail, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Lail a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Muir, who posted 18 points and five rebounds.

Gavin Rhoades continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tabiona, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 13 boards. Rhoades is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Cayse Thomas was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Manila's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Tabiona, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manila has already played their next matchup (against Rich), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tabiona will challenge Tintic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tabiona's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
