Basketball Recap: Macarthur Skates Past Southwest with Ease

MacArthur won the last time they faced Southwest and things went their way on Wednesday too. The MacArthur Brahmas blew past the Southwest Dragons, posting a 63-25 win. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead MacArthur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellie Lee, who posted 12 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Faith Thomas, who went 6 for 15 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Lee wasn't the only one working in the assists department: MacArthur was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest only racked up five assists.

Southwest's loss came despite strong showings from Genaya Santos and Geanna Martinez. Santos had nine points, while Martinez earned no points. That was a full 36% of Southwest's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

MacArthur pushed their record up to 23-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Southwest, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-21.

MacArthur will challenge Jay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. As for Southwest, they will take on Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlandale has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games.
