Baseball Recap: Porter-Gaud's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Porter-Gaud had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Northwood Academy Chargers. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-8 victory last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Ellis, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Brinker, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Porter-Gaud always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood Academy only posted an OBP of .323.

Porter-Gaud's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Northwood Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14-1 record this season.

Porter-Gaud will square off against First Baptist School at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hurricanes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cyclones' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northwood Academy, they will challenge Hilton Head Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
