Iota has gone a perfect 7-0 against Eunice recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Iota was able to grind out a solid win over DeQuincy, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Saige Cherry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Iota's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ella Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eunice). They put the hurt on Breaux Bridge with a sharp 17-3 win on Thursday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Madelyn Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Eva Sattler was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Sydni Miller was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Iota now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Eunice, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Iota got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 against Eunice by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
