Meanwhile, Mount Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 71-44 loss at the hands of Spackenkill. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mount Academy in their matchups with Spackenkill: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mount Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bruce Maendel scored 17 points along with six steals. Maendel is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Donovan Baird, who scored six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Ellenville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Mount Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
Everything came up roses for Ellenville against Mount Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 75-41 victory. With Ellenville ahead 42-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
