Softball Recap: Gibbs Now 13-1 over Last 14 Games

While Gibbs put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Southeastern. Gibbs was the clear victor by a 14-0 margin over Southeastern. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Madilynn Rutherford was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Shelby Williams was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Gibbs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southeastern only posted an OBP of .222.

Gibbs is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. Southeastern dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibbs will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Southeastern, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Gallia Academy at 5:15 p.m.
