It was a good run, but the Jay Royals unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Central by a score of 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Jay has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Jay saw an underclassman step up: Hattie Locklin scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Locklin has scored all season. Presley Hawthorne was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists.
Autumn Boutwell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central, scoring 27 points along with four steals. Boutwell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hatcher Sasha, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Jay's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2. As for Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Pace the next time they take the court. Central will head out to face Pace at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Jay will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
