McAlester is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They slipped by Collinsville 28-27. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Buffaloes were the better team in the second half.
McAlester's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Denver Durant, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one score, and Jordan Clark, who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Kash Tidwell made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Carl Albert was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Duncan 45-17. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won nine contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Carl Albert's win came from a few key players McAlester will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Delijah Matthews, who rushed for 76 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 42 yards and one touchdown. He has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played. Another receiver making a difference was Jacson Webster, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two scores.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Carl Albert, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Webster, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
McAlester's record is now 7-4. As for Carl Albert, their record now sits at 11-0.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Clark and Matthews. Clark just won't slow down this season and has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 88.7 rushing yards per game. Matthews has been a dominant force too and has run in 33 touchdowns while averaging 155.9 rushing yards per game.
McAlester took a serious blow against Carl Albert in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 49-7. Thankfully for the Buffaloes, Reed Dequasie (who rushed for 93 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 72 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
