Trabuco Hills hasn't had much luck against Beckman recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. Trabuco Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Trabuco Hills fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Jesuit on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-4.
Lena Brunozzi spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kayla Phan made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Riley McCulloch also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Beckman also fell in extra-innings nine innings action on Wednesday. They fell just short of Dana Hills by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.
Beckman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Morales, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Beckman's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Trabuco Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1.
Beckman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trabuco Hills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Beckman, though, as they've been averaging 12.5 hits. Given Trabuco Hills' sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
Trabuco Hills came up short against Beckman when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 9-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
