They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cambridge Christian on Thursday and snuck past 54-52. With that win, Zephyrhills Christian Academy brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Perez led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rogers Jones, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zay Burton, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Karston Michael Ash, who scored ten points.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy pushed their record up to 4-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Cambridge Christian, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Northside Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Redeemer Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th.
