Tenoroc waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Poinciana Eagles.
Gracie Pate made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off 13 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Skylee Johnson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Zoe Rivera also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Tenoroc was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Tenoroc's record now sits at 7-2. As for Poinciana, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Looking ahead, Tenoroc will head out to challenge Oasis Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Poinciana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Moore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
