Softball Recap: Hanks Has No Trouble Against Horizon

Hanks won the last time they faced Horizon and things went their way on Monday too. The Knights were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Scorpions. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kareli Borunda made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Borunda was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Amberly Mercado was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Audrey Melendez, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Hanks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Hanks' record now sits at 15-10-1. As for Horizon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Hanks has already played their next game, an 11-4 loss against Parkland on the 9th. As for Horizon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-3 defeat against Del Valle on the 9th.
