Unioto stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Southeastern on the road to the tune of 59-21. Given Unioto's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Southeastern is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Unioto found their leader in underclassman Milee Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaris Betts, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for McClain at home against Zane Trace on Wednesday as the team secured a 60-23 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McClain.
Unioto's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for McClain, they pushed their record up to 12-10 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Unioto against McClain in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-22 win. Will Unioto repeat their success, or does McClain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
