Basketball Recap: KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy Takes a Loss

KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy lost against Motivation back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy fell 59-46 to the Motivation Jaguars. While KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Motivation 15-9 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy lost, don't look at Tali Baker. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 11 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Those 20 points gave Baker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahimer Nugin- Johnson, who posted seven points.

Motivation was led to victory by Amari Gadson and Chace White. Gadson had 21 points and six steals, while White put up 19 points and five steals. The game was White's third in a row with at least ten points. Divevea Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and six steals.

This is the second loss in a row for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Motivation, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy will head out to challenge Science Leadership Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Motivation, they are taking a road trip to face off against Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Motivation is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
