Somers extended the longest winning streak in Section 1 A - 2 this week by beating Eastchester, 34-21. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Tuskers.
Saunders Trades & Tech moved up to 294 from 325 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Blue Devils were able to make move up by topping Port Chester 13-12.
Tyrone Searight and Miguel Diaz gave Peekskill a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Searight threw for 50 yards and 24 touchdowns, while Diaz ran for 85 yards. Teammate Ramon Searight added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Joshua Almodovar was the best wideout in the league this week as Ossining lost to Sleepy Hollow. Almodovar racked up two receptions for 73 yards. Steven Orts helped Ossining's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Nick Mariano of Yorktown is the league leader in passing yards this season with 739. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Somers' Stefano Bicknese has rushed for 852 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Joe Festo. The Somers star has 22 catches for 402 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tony Dematteo's team takes on Saunders Trades & Tech. At the moment, the Tuskers are in first, while Ks Waters' team is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Somers takes on the Blue Devils. The Tuskers have allowed 90 points this season, while Saunders Trades & Tech has given up 78. Somers allowed 21 points last week as it bested the Eagles.
Poughkeepsie took down Nyack 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. D'andre Smith in the win.
