Hoboken has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against The Cedar Grove Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hoboken comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Hoboken fell victim to Lincoln's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Lions, falling 54-0. While losing is never fun, Hoboken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Lincoln is ranked 146th).
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Cedar Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 42-28 bruising from Caldwell.
Despite the loss, Cedar Grove had strong showings from Stephen Paradiso, who threw for 470 yards and two touchdowns, and Nicholas Iannacone, who picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jackson Morrice also helped out as he racked up 134 receiving yards.
Hoboken's defeat was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Immaculata and 11-2 Weequahic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.7% over those games). Having lost for the first time this season, Cedar Grove fell to 7-1.
Hoboken was taken down by Cedar Grove 48-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Hoboken avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
