The Millard South Patriots gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on Lincoln East with a sharp 62-37 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-13.
Will Cooper was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds. Isaac Jensen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Lincoln East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Mick, who scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jang Dak, who scored 8 points.
Millard South's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Lincoln East, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Millard South will face off against Bellevue West at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln East, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lincoln North Star at 3:15 p.m.
