After flying high against the EPIC Academy The Legends last Thursday, the Chicago Vocational Cavaliers came back down to earth. Chicago Vocational took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Urban Prep-Bronzeville on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Chicago Vocational can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while Urban Prep-Bronzeville is ranked 303rd).
Despite the loss, Chicago Vocational still got an impressive performance from Ron Thigpen, who scored 21 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. The contest was Thigpen's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendaro Cassidy, who scored 12 points.
Urban Prep-Bronzeville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tristan Hunter, who scored 16 points. Melvin Moore was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Chicago Vocational's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Urban Prep-Bronzeville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chicago Vocational will take on Corliss at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Urban Prep-Bronzeville, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Woodlawn at 4:30 p.m. on December 12th.
