They took their matchup at home on Monday with ease, bagging a 83-53 victory over Desert View. Given Buena's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Desert View is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Buena can attribute much of their success to Julian Duran, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duran has scored all season. Deangelo Hawthorne was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Buena has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Desert View, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Buena will head out on the road to take on Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cienega is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Desert View, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. Nogales is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
