4A Region 5 recap October 22, 2013
Logan added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 5 this week by beating Hurricane, 45-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Grizzlies.
Sky View took down Ogden 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Braxton Godderidge threw for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
Bracken Williams was a key player and the best on defense this week as Logan beat the Tigers. The 5-foot-11 junior forced 1 fumble, recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 2 sacks.
Chase Nelson threw for 326 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 22-31 with 0 interceptions.
Taylor Compton was the best receiver in the league this week as Mike Favero's team defeated Hurricane. Compton racked up 6 receptions for 102 yards. Chandler Lowery helped Logan's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 78 yards.
Logan's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Grizzlies feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 2,709 yards and 38 touchdowns this season, while Compton has 69 catches for 1,010 yards. Nelson also leads the league in rushing with 963 yards.
The most important game in 4A Region 5 this week will be the match up between the Grizzlies and Box Elder. Logan enters the contest ranked seventh in the state, while the Bees ranks 24th.
Nelson of the the Grizzlies is only 37 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 154 carries Nelson has put up 963 yards this year.
Roy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Bonneville.
