The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against New Madrid County Central, falling 89-49. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cairo in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Madrid County Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than BJ Williamson, who scored 33 points along with three steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Williamson posted two or more blocks. Jadis Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
Cairo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for New Madrid County Central, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.
Cairo will head out on the road to take on the Red Devils at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Murphysboro is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for New Madrid County Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
