Eagle has gone 8-2 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagle Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Mountain View Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Mustangs fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They won by a run and slipped past Kuna 8-7. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Kavemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Peyton Bargen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellie McManigal, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Erin Thoreson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mountain View gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on Meridian with a sharp 18-7 win.
Like Eagle, Mountain View also got a great game from a two-way player: Katy Jackson. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Jackson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other batting news, Tayelynn Puyleart was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Aleynah Vega, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only posted an OBP of .357.
Eagle skirted past Mountain View 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eagle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
