The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Decatur, who took down 171st ranked Eastern Hancock, 41-21.
Chris Johannigman and Byron Balser provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Park Tudor. The connection was good for 93 yards, the longest such play in Mid-Indiana Football this season.
South Decatur's dynamic duo of Johannigman and Balser proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johannigman threw for 420 yards and four touchdowns and Balser had 267 yards receiving. Matthew Gatewood helped South Decatur's passing attack out by catching six balls for 114 yards.
Sam Thompson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 53 yards as Milan topped Park Tudor. Teammate Scott Pennington added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Johannigman of South Decatur is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1448. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, the Chargers' Jason Kirchhoff has rushed for 902 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brenden Smith. The Indian Creek star has 39 catches for 541 yards.
The top two teams in Mid-Indiana Football will face off this week when first place North Decatur takes on second place Indian Creek. North Decatur topped the Royals last week, while Indian Creek bested the Indians.
Garry Sauley's team's Kirchhoff is a mere 98 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
There should be lots of points scored when the Chargers and Indian Creek face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, North Decatur comes in having scored 154 this season, while Anthony Ankney's team has scored 174. The Chargers scored 41 points last week as they topped Eastern Hancock.
North Decatur moved up to 165 from 218 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chargers were able to make the jump by beating the Royals 41-21.
