Maret and Potomac School are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Frogs will take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Maret is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: St. Andrew's Episcopal, who was ranked 13th in their home state at the time (Maret was ranked second). The Frogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Frogs.

The team relied heavily on Isiah Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Maret: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Jack Sherman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Maret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Potomac School challenged Bishop Ireton on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 13-3 win. The Panthers have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.
Gavin Speigel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Ian Parrish was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Ryan Keller was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Maret's record now sits at 10-6. As for Potomac School, their record is now 13-5.
Maret might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Potomac School in their previous matchup on Friday. Can the Frogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
