Opp is 0-9 against Pike County since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Pike County Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Opp is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Opp scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Daleville with points to spare, taking the game 55-41. The win was just what Opp needed coming off of a 65-26 loss in their prior matchup.
Opp got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cuba Wiggins out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dionna Stoudemire, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Pike County suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 47-24 loss at the hands of New Brockton. Pike County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
Opp's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-15. As for Pike County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Opp opened the new year with a less-than-successful 39-31 defeat to Pike County. Can Opp avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
