Berrien has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Worth County Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Berrien suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Dodge County 76-36. While losing is never fun, Berrien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 557th, while Dodge County is ranked 71st).
Meanwhile, Worth County pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Sumter County 62-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Worth County in their matchups with Sumter County: they've now lost three in a row.
Berrien bumped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Worth County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Berrien was able to grind out a solid win over Worth County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 67-55. Does Berrien have another victory up their sleeve, or will Worth County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
