Winning is just a little bit easier when you drain five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Wayne Blue Devils proved on Saturday. They took down Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 53-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wayne.
Leading Wayne to victory were Caiden Backer and Gavin Redden. Backer scored 14 points along with two steals, while Redden scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Redden hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Jace Jorgensen was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Despite the loss, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge still got an impressive performance from Kolby Hansen, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradyn Urwiler, who scored five points along with two steals.
Wayne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.
Wayne will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Bend Central at 7:30 p.m. North Bend Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Osmond/Randolph at 7:45 p.m. on January 23rd.
