The Hawthorne Christian Academy Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 55-47 to Union Christian Day. Hawthorne Christian Academy lost against Union Christian Day in their previous head to head back in February of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 106-31 score last time.
Hawthorne Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jonathan Reed, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Clay Ballard, who scored 11 points.
Union Christian Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Gage, who scored 18 points. Gage continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jaeden Brown was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Hawthorne Christian Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Union Christian Day, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Hawthorne Christian Academy will head out on the road to challenge Carolina Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Union Christian Day, they will be playing at home against Lighthouse Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lighthouse Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
