The Fox Chapel Foxes will challenge the Franklin Regional Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, Fox Chapel got the win against Mars by a conclusive 13-1. The Foxes haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Planets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Franklin Regional entered their tilt with Gateway last Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gators a 17-0 shutout. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Chloe Lancaster made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Lancaster was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Toryn Fulton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ciara Camacho, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Franklin Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fox Chapel pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
