The Mayer Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over Music Mountain. The win was some much needed relief for Mayer as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mayer had a senior duo take command as Earl Williams dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds and Tanner Carlise dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Williams continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jaden Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Mayer's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Music Mountain, they bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Mayer will challenge Desert Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Desert Heights Prep is ranked 340th, while Mayer is ranked 336th). As for Music Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
