Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Huntingtown Hurricanes walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over the Buccaneers on Friday. 35 seems to be a good number for Huntingtown as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading Huntingtown to victory were Roger Jones Jr. and Evan Kuntz. Jones Jr. picked up 91 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Kuntz threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while completing 86.4% of his passes.
Although Kent Island took the loss, they still got scores from Shane Bogardus, Tucker Claxton, and Jaxson Hess.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Huntingtown, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.6 points per game. As for Kent Island, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Huntingtown will be playing in front of their home fans against Walkersville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Walkersville is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Kent Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
