The Grand Meadow Superlarks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 71-28 loss at the hands of Houston. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Grand Meadow of the 75-35 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Houston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Geiwitz led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Geiwitz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Rohweder, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Grand Meadow's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Houston, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand Meadow will take on the Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Kingsland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Superlarks in Minnesota (the Knights are ranked 144th, while the Superlarks are ranked 414th). As for Houston, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd. Mabel-Canton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully the Hurricanes like a good challenge.
