Galva hasn't had much luck against Biggsville West Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Heat at 4:30 p.m. Galva has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Galva is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They lost 13-3 to Abingdon/Avon.
Galva saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Wigant, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Maddie Bates also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Abingdon/Avon with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Heat, who have now won ten contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Becca Hinshaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Rylie Ferguson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Biggsville West Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abingdon/Avon only posted an OBP of .167.
Biggsville West Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Galva, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Galva has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Biggsville West Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Galva suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Biggsville West Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
