Softball Recap: Vela Has No Trouble Against Mcallen Memorial

Vela's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the McAllen Memorial Mustangs as they made off with a 14-2 victory. The Sabercats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Alysandra Garcia was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Sara Mendoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Vela was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McAllen Memorial only posted a batting average of .261.

The win got Vela back to even at 8-8. As for McAllen Memorial, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Vela is set to square off against their familiar foe McAllen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Sabercats have won four straight at home, while the Bulldogs won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, McAllen Memorial will face off against rival Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
