Kankakee has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rich Township recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Kays will square off against the Raptors at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kankakee's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Thornwood with a sharp 18-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Kays.
Kylie Glogowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Glogowski was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Annika Van Heemst was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Lillian Landis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Kankakee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Rich Township entered their tilt with Thornridge on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Falcons 19-1.
Like Kankakee, Rich Township also got a great game from a two-way player: Lillian Skelly. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Skelly posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last four games. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ezri Adami, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Naairah Ali, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Rich Township's record now sits at 5-9. As for Kankakee, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Kankakee skirted past Rich Township 12-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Kays repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
