The Rangely Panthers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 45-40 win over Caprock Academy on Tuesday. The victory was just what Rangely needed coming off of a 82-33 loss in their prior matchup.
Rangely was led to victory by Clay Allred and Tristan Scott. Allred scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, while Scott scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Scott scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Quintana, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Rangely's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Caprock Academy, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
Rangely will play host again and welcome Little Snake River, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Little Snake River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rangely in their respective states (Little Snake River is ranked 40th in Wyoming, while Rangely is ranked 274th in Colorado). As for Caprock Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Soroco at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
