Softball Recap: Keystone Oaks Has No Trouble Against Steel Valley

Keystone Oaks barely beat Steel Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Ironmen on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kennadi Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Gigliotti, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Evie Kyper was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Keystone Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Steel Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
