Baseball Recap: Hatley Has No Trouble Against Walnut

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hatley and Walnut, and Hatley kept the tradition alive. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-5 victory on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Evan George, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Hatley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-13 when he doesn't). Logan Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Hatley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

Hatley's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Walnut, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Hatley will host Calhoun City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Walnut, they will venture away from home to take on Middleton at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday.
