Waverly Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Big Sandy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Seth Green, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds, and Cole Pierpoint who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Green's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Merrell, who scored five points.
Waverly Central's win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11. As for Big Sandy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly Central will take on Stewart County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stewart County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Big Sandy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central at 7:15 p.m. on January 12th. Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
